Garage carpet installation differs from a normal room because the carpet sits directly over a concrete slab, which holds moisture and temperature very differently to a timber subfloor. Standard carpet and underlay laid straight onto concrete can trap damp and grow mould underneath within a season. A proper garage install uses a moisture barrier or specific underlay rated for concrete, along with carpet suited to the space, whether that’s a durable synthetic broadloom for a home gym or interlocking carpet tiles that are easier to lift if the garage ever goes back to vehicle use.
